Extruding edge loops in 3DS Max
I thought I would post a small tip since I spent awhile going mad trying to figure out why the Extrude function wasn’t working for me in 3ds Max when working with edge loops. It seems that the Extrude function isn’t meant for edge loops, it “works” meaning it does something with them just not anything useful.
Instead when you need to extrude edge loops, select the loops and then you need to hold down Shift+Left Click and drag to extrude new geometry.
Removing tablet input lag in ZBrush.
I recently came across a small issue where my tablet, every time I pressed the pen on the surface would freeze for half a second before showing the results on screen which as you might imagine was very annoying working with ZBrush or Photoshop. So to save others the time I spent resolving this issue I thought I would post the steps to fix it.
Very simple, go into Control Panel on Windows 7 (why are you still running Vista?), click on “Pen and Touch”, in the menu that pops up click on “Press and Hold” in the Pen Actions list and then click on “Settings…”. At the very top unselect the checkbox titled “Enable press and hold for right-clicking”. For most this solves the issue. Unfortunately I do not fall into “most” evidently.
I also had to disable Flicks. Go back to the Pen and Touch main menu screen. Then click on the “Flicks’ tab at the top. Unselect the checkbox titled “Use flicks to perform common actions quickly and easily”.
Once I did these 2 steps my input lag was gone. Happy tableting!
